Hug a Tree

A depiction of the Tree of Life in metal inlaid in a wooden doorway

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about trees. The middle grade book I’m currently revising (that will hopefully be on submission to publishers this fall) is called (for now) The Tree of Us.

Trees represent life, rebirth, growth, wisdom, history, resilience, strength, beauty, and interdependence.

We usually think of trees growing up, but it is the tree’s secondary growth, it’s ability to add layers of bark and grow wider, which enables it to grow taller.

With everything that trees provide us: shade, nourishment, shelter, medicine, clean air, inspiration, it’s a wonder we take them for granted.
